About

Where Institutional Discipline Meets
Entrepreneurial Vision

High Signal Holdings is the private holding company founded and led by Michael Rand, a Boston-based investor, operator, and entrepreneur with three decades of experience in private equity and private credit.

After investing in more than 50 companies and deploying over $400 million in capital across diverse industries, Michael now focuses on acquiring and building exceptional lower middle market businesses, bringing institutional discipline, operational clarity, and long-term thinking to businesses that others overlook.

The thesis is straightforward: strong, stable cash flow in traditional, well-run businesses represents a singular opportunity in the age of AI. While the world chases the next breakthrough, these businesses compound quietly, and their fragmented nature makes them ideal candidates for a disciplined roll-up strategy that builds lasting value and compelling, risk-adjusted returns.

Investment Philosophy

Signal Over Noise

We find businesses with strong fundamentals, durable cash flow, and defensible market positions. Then we bring institutional discipline, entrepreneurial creativity, and a genuine long-term commitment to making them exceptional.

01
Disciplined Evaluation

Thirty years of evaluating businesses teaches you what to look for, and what to walk away from. We apply institutional rigor to every opportunity regardless of size.

02
Operational Clarity

We acquire businesses with strong fundamentals and bring structure, systems, and technology to unlock their next level of performance. Better processes. Better data. Better decisions.

03
Entrepreneurial Spirit

We bring hands-on energy and entrepreneurial conviction to every business we acquire — building cultures, developing people, aligning incentives, and creating value that goes well beyond the balance sheet.

04
Long-Term Compounding

We are not financial engineers. We are builders. We acquire for the long term, invest in people and systems, and measure success in years, not quarters.
